Day 1 Basic Systems...
Day 2 ...Weight & Load Management...
Day 3 Fire & Life Safety...
These classes stand out as I look over the Schedule of Events. You would think I'm getting ready to learn a new airplane, but instead, it's a few of the topics covered in the "RV Boot Camp" Ashley and I will be attending. Next month in Sedalia, Missouri, we will finish up our last piece of the puzzle before "exploring this beautiful country of ours."
After purchasing our new "home on wheels", the sellers were nice enough to give a quick motorhome basics briefing. During the tour they used terms such as 50 amp vs 30 amp, jacks, slide outs, black water vs. gray water (which I've been told you don't want get confused), and many others. I would nod my head, make my best "I know what you're talking about" face and think to myself
"What are we getting ourselves into?"

On the drive home Ashley asked, "Do you know how to drive a motorhome?" Until that point I had never thought about it, assuming I would figure it out as we went. Thoughts of black water and remembering I had never driven anything bigger than a 1979 Monte Carlo in high school I started to have my doubts.

more than the car itself
Upon arriving home, I did what any smart person does when they need an answer...
...and thankfully an RV Boot Camp exists, which includes driving lessons and will drop our insurance premiums by $100! Thanks Google!
The final day in our Omaha apartment arrived. We finished packing the motorhome, made one last trip to our storage unit, and dropped off the keys ending a great two years in Omaha. All that was left was to fill up the 75 gallon gas tank and head towards Kansas.
Did I mention we get 9 miles per gallon!
At this time I recalled never seeing a fuel cap on the motorhome. After three walks around the rig, I still couldn't find where you add gas! I had my phone out ready to make an embarrassing call, to whom I hadn't figured out yet. When once again I had thoughts back to my 1979 Monte Carlo, which had a fuel cap behind the license plate. Who would have known, there it was!
After an uneventful drive, with Ashley following in the Jeep, we arrived in Paola, Kansas. Paola is the home of Ashley's family and only two hours away from Manhattan, where my family lives. While in Kansas, we have enjoyed some quality family time and EXCELLENT food with both of our families! Over the next month we will vacation with my family in South Dakota and the Ryder Cup Golf Tournament in Chicago. Then after our RV Boot Camp, it will be time for our adventure to begin. We can't wait!
Until then it's time to get back to the books and ready for class...
